Complete Fashion magazine
shares its current issue with us – interesting cover concept. Here is a
press release from the magazine on the reason and inspiration behind
the cover.
As a country, WE LOVE FOOTBALL. It’s one of our greatest talents. It’s the one thing that brings us all together – well, brings the men together besides politics. It’s the one sport (dare I say, only), we are most passionate about and invested in. It’s the one sport with no class barrier. It’s the one sport that would ensure a traffic-free road when its being played. For all of these reasons, we have dedicated this issue to the great Super Eagles – win or lose – and to the spirit of the game.
In our bid to give you something special, with a little sex appeal, we enlisted girl of the moment with enviable curves, our ‘Gorgeous 10’, the bootylicious Miss Black USA 2010, model, philanthropist and actress, Osas Ighodaro. We loved working with Osas, she was such a trooper with great model energy and discipline, despite a really busy schedule. Her cover was inspired by that girlfriend that gives her man something other than TV to watch. Yes, she really threw the ball on the cover, its NOT a placed/photoshop-ed image as some might think. In this issue, we played with fun and flirty Osas rather than the typical regal look we are getting used to. Lookout for Osas in a itsybitsy ankara shorts using Vlisco Java print from Bloom collection sewn by @redbyhouseofmaureenezissi as provided by @LKAfabrics(Official Vlisco Partner). Pick up your copy to read and see more of Osas Ighodaro ‘Undressed’.
Crossing over to the male side, we needed
someone with great intellect but with a fun personality and of course,
fashionable to match our cover girl, the outcome – qualified lawyer,
youth political ambassador, self-proclaimed number one Nigerian football
fan(he came to set with his own official Naija world cup 2014’ jersey inscribed with Okija-his hometown – super patriotic), media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu in
(Smart, Sexy & Single). Mostly dressed in Okunoren Twins’ linen
shirts and pants all from their SS14 Doctrine of style collection, Ebuka
charmed our hearts all through his shoot wearing locally made ‘wazobia’ statement hats. We even got him dressed in a purple ‘danshiki’ from King Hakbal(inside) who showed at this year’s Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2014.
Keeping up with the football theme and for authenticity, we went a step further by inviting John Ogu(Super Eagles midfielder), who plays professionally for Primeira Liga side Académica de Coimbra
in ‘Football is our culture’ for a photoshoot with fashion
photographer, Paul Ukonu. The idea behind John’s shoot is the blending
of cultures – Nigerian, western with huge dollop of football. John and
the CF styling team came up with fantastic results – we also picked up
some pro-football skills.
And of course, we have the regular Complete Fashion pages – asoebi
style inspirations, latest fashion trends, lookbooks we love from
Vlisco, Okunoren, TI Nathan, DIDI, Sally Bawa, Pistis and TZAR with
highlights from the first Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2014. Do not miss
our selection of statement accessories (‘Accessories Maven’) is also one
you’ll want to keep for reference plus the hautest trainers
out there for men. In this issue, we’ve brought back an old favourite
‘Fashion Jury. We know we’ve starved you, here is us redeeming
ourselves. Not to be missed in this issue, is our sister publication,
Beauty Box magazine just to give you a little bit more. Don’t miss the
BB tutorials, product reviews, expert advice and more. Do enjoy every
page we have created lovingly in this issue.
Finally, for the LUCKY ones, we have distributed (Lagos only) a good number of this issue with two individual 5ml samples of fun, flirty, Juicy Couture‘s Viva La Juicy and Viva La Fleur from Montaigne Place, Nigeria’s leading luxury cosmetics, well-being and fragrance company. Look out for the Pink card on the cover. For where to buy call 0803 713 0408 for outlets nationwide.

Expect more amazing content from CF in the next issue, for now, indulge in these shared pages and thank you for your continued support in making this the foremost fashion magazine in Africa.
