Amstel Malta Showtime discovered many talents – Sultan

Sultan
Amidst intoxicating performances at the Lagos phase of the Amstel Malta Showtime, popular artiste, Sound Sultan, described response of budding artistes to
the show as overwhelming.
Apart from the fact that Sultan and other leading lights such as Phyno and Gordons led performances at the event held at the University of Lagos, he was one of the judges for this year.
As a result, he travelled with the show to different parts of Nigeria, and is thus able to appraise it holistically.
According to him, apart from provoking fun at every city it berthed, it gave many up-and-coming creative minds an opportunity to showcase their talents.
He noted that the number of such people who had participated in it was so large that it gave the judges a hard time to make decisions.
He said, “This experience has been worth every single hype. I’m very glad to be a part of this and I can tell you confidently that Nigeria is blessed with the most unique talents. We saw a variety at the auditions both in Enugu and Lagos; so much so that we had an extremely tough time making our final pick and so had to give a number of talents the opportunity to perform even though they didn’t make it to the final five. Big thumbs up to Amstel Malta for putting this together.”
Directed by Ice Nweke, the show tagged ‘The Rush’ was held at the UNILAG Indoor Sports Hall. It attracted many people, especially students who demonstrated a lot of razzmatazz as they danced and hailed their darling singers. It was a fusion of s artistic displays by ballerinas, singers, actors, fire eaters, jugglers, dancers, rappers, instrumentalists and comedians. All of these were fused to narrate the story of a young man’s journey to success.
Five young talents, selected via auditions, also performed, coming as singing duo (male and female), instrumentalist duo (a violinist and a guitarist), a dance team of four, a comedian and a rapper
Amstel Malta Brand Manager, Hannatu Ageni-Yusuf, described the Amstel Malta Showtime 2014, which also rewarded winners with cash prizes, as a successful one.
She said, “This edition has been the most explosive we’ve ever had and we are very glad as a brand that we decided to do this. We thought of a way to give young talents a better opportunity to showcase themselves, rather than just competing and walking home with cash prizes. The mentorship sessions were intense and we are confident that this experience will help launch these talents to the right path in their careers.”
